This is the fifth year the Gwynedd Taste & Talent awards have been held as part of the Llwyddo yng Ngwynedd initiative of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 (coordinated by Gwynedd Council on behalf of Gwynedd Economic Partnership), which aims to promote the county’s producers.  Also funded this year’s awards were the European Fisheries Fund for Wales.

April 2013 Chocolate Sauce with Sea Salt

Cariad Chocolate have launched their new Chocolate Sauce with Sea Salt, which can be used in a variety of ways. This deliciously decadent dark chocolate sauce is spreadable (or spoonable) straight from the jar but it can also be warmed to make a smooth pouring sauce.

... some suggestions for use:

* drizzle on top of ice cream, brownies or coffee cake
* spread on fresh bread, on toast, or use as a filling in sandwiches
* stir into coffee to add a delicious mocha flavour
* mix with hot milk to make 'proper' hot chocolate
* as a filling or topping for cakes, biscuits, waffles, pancakes, etc.

... or eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon

As supplied the sauce is dairy free but, for an indulgent milk chocolate sauce, just add single (or double) cream.

Congratulations to one of our founder producers - The Mushroom Garden having won a National Trust nationwide award. Their Umami seasoning was the title of Best Innovative Product.

Developed in North Wales, this forward thinking product made from dried shiitake mushroom powder, dried seaweed and Anglesey sea-salt expanded the company's product range and won over all the judges for its innovation and taste.

Cynan Jones from The Mushroom Garden was delighted:
"We're one of the National Trust's smallest tenants, yet this year we have won one of the key awards!"
